About this recipe
This recipe is delicious as it has potatoes and cheese that make it absolutely everyone's favorite and not to forget the amazing cheese pull.
The crispy outside of the cheese ball is achieved due to the covering of the bread crumbs that are deep-fried and are very addictive
These cheese balls not being on the spicer side make it a good snack for kids too
These cheese balls freeze beautifully and better than the store brought ones, amazing for sudden guests.
Potatoes- it is that one vegetable that is very versatile and is enjoyed by all age groups.
Cheese- adding cheese to anything including potatoes just makes it better. it gives that perfect gooey center for this recipe I have used Amul cheese you can also use cheddar or mozzarella.
Slurry- we use slurry to create a layer to which the bread crumbs stick to achieve that crispy outer covering. I use 2 tbsp of cornflour in the slurry.
Bread crumbs- it gives that crispy covering to the cheese balls. the cheese balls when done they are first dipped in slurry and then rolled into the bread crumbs.
Other ingredients- to complete the dish we need a few more ingredients like oregano, chilli flakes, black pepper, salt, chilli, ginger garlic paste, and oil.
Step by step recipe
Preparation time: 20 mins
Cooking time: 15 mins
STEP1: Mix 1 cup of potatoes, 1 tbsp of mixed herbs,1 finely chopped chilli,1 tbsp of ginger garlic paste,1 tsp of salt, and 1 tsp of black pepper, and 3 tbsp of all-purpose flour. Once all the condiments are mixed in add 2 tbsp of milk and form it into a dough for it to hold shape.
STEP2: Take a small amount of the potato mix, make a ball and flatten it. keep 1-inch cube of cheese and roll it. Make sure do not flatten it a lot it might not hold the cheese inside.
STEP3: Add the cheese balls to the refrigerator for 15 minutes for them to hold shape.
STEP4: For the slurry take 2 tbsp of cornflour and 2 tbsp of water and mix it. Dip it first in the slurry and then in the bread crumbs.
Repeat the same process for all the balls.
STEP5: Deep fry them until golden brown and transfer to the plate.
STEP6: Serve hot with ketchup or coriander chutney.
If you prefer healthy eating you can use sweet potatoes as an alternative to potatoes. Also instead of deep-frying them, you can bake them at 200 degrees for 15-20 minutes make sure you preheat the oven first.
